Hazel & Creme® is a homegrown, woman-owned confections business specializing in handcrafted sweet treats made with high quality, natural ingredients. Our founder, Anita, grew up in a small town where dessert was always a celebration – full of love, joy, and community. She carried this sweet tradition through her adult life, finding immense satisfaction in baking decadent treats for her family and friends on birthdays, holidays, and whenever there was something worth celebrating.

After years of perfecting her recipes and techniques, Anita decided to share her confections with a wider audience. In 2019, Hazel & Creme® was born in Nashville, TN, with a mission to spread joy through sweets. We began selling at local farmer’s markets, where Anita’s creations earned rave reviews. It wasn’t long before the demand exceeded what Anita could produce in her home kitchen.

In 2021, Hazel & Creme® opened a commercial kitchen where we lovingly handcraft all of our treats from scratch using Anita’s treasured recipes. We source only the finest ingredients – real butter, high quality chocolate, pure extracts and spices, fresh eggs, and more. Every bite is made purposefully and with pride.

Our product line has expanded over the years, but our commitment to quality and service never wavers. Some customer favorites include:

Our Creative Process

Crafting confections is both an art and a science for our team. Our Head Baker brings decades of pastry experience to lead recipe development. We have an extensive testing process to ensure each creation meets our high standards before going to market.

Precision and consistency are critical, but there’s also room for inspiration. New flavors, ingredients, and designs are added seasonally. Holidays, changing tastes, and food trends influence our innovations. We keep our ears open and let our creative side flourish.

After a new treat is designed, we move into production mode. Meticulous care goes into every step of our process – measuring, mixing, baking, cooling, dipping, decorating. Our team works with care and efficiency, aided by top-of-the-line equipment. Still, there is no replacement for attention to detail.

Finally, it’s time for quality control. Flavor, texture, appearance – all must pass scrutiny before packaging. Only the best make it into our giftable boxes and ready-to-eat trays. Once sealed with our signature hazelnut & crème swirl logo, we know our sweets are ready to bring joy.

Our Story & Heritage

Hazel & Creme® was founded by entrepreneur and baker Anita Howard, whose lifelong passion for baking led her to launch our business in 2019.

Anita was born in Charleston, South Carolina where sweets & hospitality go hand-in-hand. Her grandmother, Hazel, was known across town for her delectable Sunday cakes, holiday pies, and decadent cookies. Anita spent many cherished hours baking alongside Hazel as a little girl, learning family recipes that had been passed down for generations.

Hazel taught Anita the secrets to melt-in-your-mouth shortbread, featherlight cakes, and crisp sugar cookies. Most importantly, she instilled in Anita a deep appreciation for the joy that baking can bring – the power of a homemade treat to express love, celebrate occasions, and bring people together.

After college, Anita worked in corporate retail buying where she gained valuable business experience. However, her passion was always in the kitchen. She spent weekends and evenings baking for fun, gifting her creations to lucky friends and family.

The turning point came in 2017 when Anita’s sugar cookies won 1st place at the local Christmas market. The outpouring of interest made Anita realize she could turn her beloved hobby into a career. After two years of preparation, Hazel & Creme® was born.

Anita named the business after her grandmother as a tribute to the woman who handed down the gift of baking. Hazel’s timeless recipes and hands-on guidance serve as the foundation for our confections today. Anita honors her each time she stirs up a silky caramel, rolls out sugar cookie dough, or shares the creations with our cherished customers.

Now Hazel & Creme® brings Grammy Hazel’s heritage into the 21st century with specialty flavors and professional techniques – all crafted by hand with love. Giving Back

Philanthropy is an integral part of Hazel & Creme’s mission. We are dedicated to giving back to organizations making a difference in our community.

Anita launched our Sweet Futures program in 2020 to support youth education. We regularly donate baked goods and funds to initiatives helping underprivileged students. Our workplace also offers internships to provide hands-on food industry experience.

In addition, Hazel & Creme® partners with worthy Nashville non-profits through financial and product donations. We’ve worked with hunger relief programs, health organizations, animal rescues, and more. Charity selection is led by our employees to reflect issues important to our team.

Hazel & Creme® also offers wholesale and custom orders at reduced cost to support fundraisers. Non-profit groups can purchase treats to serve at galas, charity drives, bake sales, and similar events.

Specific roles include:

• Bakers – Mix, measure, and bake a high volume of consistent, quality treats daily. Attention to detail is critical.
• Kitchen Assistants – Prepare ingredients, assist bakers, operate dishwashing and packaging equipment, keep kitchen immaculate.
• Decorators – Dip, drizzle, and creatively decorate baked goods and confections. Artistic ability strongly preferred.
• Delivery Drivers – Provide friendly customer service while safely delivering wholesale orders on time. Valid driver’s license required.
• Customer Service – Respond to online inquiries, field phone orders, assist with shipping concerns. Warm personality essential.
